The Lion King was quite popular around here before Halloween. The girls first saw the movie this summer and it was a hit that inspired many imaginative activities.

What Kathryn wants to be when she grows up
Submitted by michelle on Sun, 11/08/2009 - 22:28In August the girls and I went to the State Fair. We took in the U of M Alumni Band and Goldy Gopher, much to the girls' delight. We also went to the kids farm and the girls did their chores. When we left the kids farm we walked through the horse trailer area to avoid the total congestion on the streets. The following conversation ensued on our traverse through the horse trailer area.
Kathryn singing with BLC Cherub Choir 10-25-2009
Submitted by michelle on Sun, 11/08/2009 - 22:04Kathryn is in the Cherub Choir (K-2nd grade) at Bethlehem Lutheran and she quite enjoys it. The director told us that Kathryn is one of her favorites (of course--why wouldn't she be a favorite?!!!) because she is so friendly and loves to participate. =)
Watch and see how much she follows the director. Perhaps she has a future in dramatic music...
Another funny Kathryn story
Submitted by aj on Mon, 01/15/2007 - 22:02So Kathryn had just finished eating breakfast, and she and Michelle were getting ready to head out for the morning (they were going to the zoo). Suddenly, Kathryn said, "When it gets warm, Grandma Carmen and me are going to go to the park and throw rocks." Not sure where that came from, but I think we need to talk to Grandma Carmen about what they do when they're at the park. ;)
Pajama update
Submitted by michelle on Tue, 11/21/2006 - 17:17I could hear Kathryn fussing throughout the night last night, but since the fussing didn't evolve into crying or calling for either of us, I didn't get up to check on her. Around 5:30 she came into our room naked, but for her diaper! And she was cold! And her diaper was very wet! (As it happened, neither of us went in to shut off her extra night light after she was asleep.) I asked her just now if she remembered what happened and she told me about not having her pajamas on, so hopefully she'll remember that when she's going to sleep tonight.
Two more Kathryn stories
Submitted by michelle on Thu, 11/09/2006 - 07:57AJ has been putting Kathryn to bed on his own more often recently, and so far it is working! He told me this story that happened a few days ago.
Wearing fuzzy pjamas is great. They are warm and fuzzy AND they have a self-operated escape hatch! More than 3 times I have found Kathryn, quite pleased with herself, stripped down to her diaper in the morning! (I am glad she hasn't started taking off her diaper too!) The other night when AJ was putting Kathryn to be she kept unzipping her pjs. AJ told her she needed to leave the pjs zipped. Becuase she was pretty tired at that point, Kathryn got fairly upset with this news and proceded to tell AJ that she needed the pjs unzipped because she had to feed her babies! AJ told her that she could zip the pjs down *part* way to feed her babies, but not all the way!
Two Kathryn stories
Submitted by michelle on Tue, 11/07/2006 - 22:22On Friday morning last week Kathryn asked me for a cookie. I told her that we didn't have any cookies so she couldn't have one. Later that day she asked again for a cookie. I gave her the same response and said that tomorrow she and Daddy could probably make some because he didn't have to work that day (and I didn't want to make cookies!). She accepted that and went on with her day. She and I were getting supper ready and she was talking about this and that and, wouldn't you know it, cookies. I think she was talking to herself, at least somewhat, when she said, "The answer is always no." Then she said, "The answer is always no, Mommy." I asked her to what the answer was always no, and she said, "To have cookies." I had to chuckle and then said, "I'm not opposed to you having cookies Kathryn, but we don't have any so you can't have them." On Saturday afternoon she and AJ made cookies!
My precious...
Submitted by aj on Sat, 07/22/2006 - 07:04So Kathryn found a coffee bean on the floor this morning and was carrying it around. While she was playing with the cats, she dropped it and exclaimed, "My bean! My precious bean!". I think she's been watching the Veggie Tales Lord of the Beans a bit too much.
