I'm so excited! I can now talk on irc, silc, yahoo!, msn, and google talk from one client! (Yes, I am a geek.) I had been running MacIrssi, console-based silc, and Adium, but it was a pain to manage all three programs. Besides, I prefer console-based apps, especially for chat.
Then I found out about this cool software called bitlbee that connects to a bunch of the IM networks. I got that installed on my mac via DarwinPorts, and got xinetd configured for it. Tried it from MacIrssi and it worked like a charm.
And then i managed to build the silc plugin for irssi and get it to work. (I had tried to do this several months ago and it failed miserably). Couple those with console-based irssi and the irssi growl plugin, and I have everything I need wrapped up in a neat little package.
