Hyena Den, October 2010

The Lion King was quite popular around here before Halloween. The girls first saw the movie this summer and it was a hit that inspired many imaginative activities.

Zoe and I found a great Simba costume for her at the Kids and Kaboodles consignment shop in Sioux Falls, SD. So that settled the Halloween question for her...Kathryn became Rafiki, the baboon from the Lion King. We thought they looked great and had fun.

On October 22 we were out in our back yard enjoying the awesome weather. At one point I started listening closely to what the girls were talking about and I realized that they had gathered all of the back yard toys and had created a Hyena Den. The attached video is a bit hard to hear the context for what they are talking about, but it gives a very nice visual for the said Hyena Den.

(surrounding the video the girls were talking about the little hyenas needing to go to the bathroom (a common subject here). they also talked about how the hyenas would be very nice when they grew up and that Scar wouldn't be mean to them or the girls, etc.)

I hope you enjoy this limited insight into their imaginary world. Click on the "Hyena Den.MOV" link below.
